cvannoyAt the Oct. 7 SCSD#2 Board of Trustees meeting, the board voted to renew Superintendent Scott Stults contract and heard from the elementary teachers throughout the district about their school improvement plans.
The board also recognized Sagebrush Elementary for their 2024 Exemplary High Performing National Blue-Ribbon School achievement; national Merit Scholars Semi-Finalists, Lucy Brock, Jackson Gaskill, and Delenn Layher; Chad Rose, Wyoming Music Educator of the year; and the boys Tennis #2 Doubles State Champions, Jaeger Conrad and Tanner Hamrick.
Superintendent Scott Stults talked the recognitions and the fact that the fire on the Big Horns, and how it puts things in perspective.
He also added a special thank you to all of those who are fighting the fire.
The board also voted to deny the application for the Cloud Peak Academy Charter school, feeling that the school would not give the students anything that Sheridan Schools aren’t already providing.
There was a public hearing on the school during the September meeting, and the trustees interviewed Carol Kane on the school.
Trustee Ed Fessler added,
Trustee Perkins commented “This to me was not a professional application.”
There are six elementary schools in SCSD#2, Story, Sagebrush, Meadowlark, Henry A. Coffeen, Highland Park, and Woodland Park, and the principal of each school was in attendance at the meeting, and each talked about their school improvement plans for the upcoming year.
In other business the board voted to replace two school buses for the 2026 school year, as the WDE has a bus replacement cycle of 17 years. The old buses have reached that benchmark and need replaced.
