Sheridan County Officials Urge Caution

The Sheridan County Board of County Commissioners would like to remind residents that partial fire restrictions remain in effect for Sheridan County.  Firefighting resources are stretched thin, so the Commissioners ask that citizens perform welding, grinding, or any task that can generate a spark during the early morning or late evening hours. 

Avoid using a burn barrel for trash disposal. Keep recreational fires small and late at night. Avoid parking on dry grass, as the heat from mufflers and catalytic converters can ignite a fire. Check trailer chains to ensure they do not drag on the pavement and cause sparks. Have a fire extinguisher or water sprayer readily available if working in grassy areas. Smoke only in areas cleared of burnable materials.
