The Sundowner Lions Club of Sheridan will be holding their annual fundraiser, The Mane Event Gravel Grinder, a rider’s choice race of 25, 50 or 80 miles traversed mostly on gravel roads.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Wyarno Bar & Grille owner Cody Mefford and Sundowner Lions Club past presidents Gail Vanderpoel and Bill Rathburn spoke about the upcoming fundraiser.

All riders must check in at the Wyarno Bar & Grill 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Friday, Sept. 27, to receive their race packets, final instructions and ask any questions they may have. Vanderpoel said this is also one last opportunity to register for late comers.

Wyarno Bar & Grill provides a starting and end point as well as a location for families to have fun while their racers challenge themselves on the course. Mefford said there will be music and meal after the race, and during the race plenty of volunteers have stepped up to offer aid to the riders.

The Sheridan Sundowner Lions Club conducts vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease. Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. They have extended this commitment to sight conservation through countless local efforts and through the international SightFirst Program, which works to eradicate blindness.
