cvannoyThe recent wildfires have burned thousands of acres of ranch land and burned up hundreds of miles fence. Tearing out the old fence and rebuilding the new will cost millions of dollars. In an effort to relieve some of the finanical burden this will cause ranchers, The Bighorn Equestrian Center, MTR Ranch Supply and a few other very gracious people, a relief fund has been set up to aid the ranchers in Northeast Wyoming and Southern Montana with fencing cost that they will encounter.
Sheila Blackburn, Executive director of the Big Horn Equestrian Center, explains what they are doing. She said that the BHE is a 501 C 3 non-profit, and 100% of the money donated goes to the relief fund.
She added that their main focus is fencing, and only monetary donations are accepted. “We really want to help our community all we can,” she said.
Miles Rives, of MTR Ranch Supply talked about their role in the relief effort.
Checks should be made out to Big Horn Equestrian Center and can be dropped off at MTR Ranch Supply or at BHE. They can be mailed to BHE, P.O. Box 6413, Sheridan, WY 82801, or Wildfire Fencing Relief, PO Box 427, Buffalo, WY 82834.
There will be a table set up at Don King Days for those wishing to donate there. Donations can also be dropped off at MTR Ranch Supply and Buffalo Livestock Marketing both in Buffalo, and the Bighorn Equestrian Center in Big Horn.
