cvannoyOn Monday, August 27, the Clearmont Community Branch Library held an open house for the community to honor Barbara Carlock for her 25 years as the Clearmont Librarian, as well as an opportunity to see the new lighting and the library ceiling remodel. The Clearmont Library is a part of the Sheridan County Public Library system.
Attending the open house were Amy Long, Sheridan Public Library Director and Zac Smiley, branch coordinator for the Sheridan County Library system. Around 15 Clearmont community members also attended the event.
Long presented Carlock with a framed collage picture of her 25 years as librarian. She also had this comment about Carlock and the remodel.
Zac Smiley added.
He said that the remodel was badly needed, as bats sometimes came into the library, and there was a hornet infestation which created problems as well.
Assistant Librarian Tammy Buss, whose husband, Mike, was the supervisor for the ceiling replacement, had this to say.
The library would like to thank Mike Buss, Will Betz and Paxton Hackett, as well as Wyatt Holland and Wade Duncan for their help on the project.
(Thanks to Tammy Buss)
The Clearmont Library moved to its present location in the community center in 1973 or 1974. At first, it was housed in the smaller room at the front of the building that is now used for meeting space. In the mid-90s, the books and library were moved to the larger room, where it is today.
(Thanks to Tammy Buss)
The library is in the Clearmont Community Center building, and each year the CCC Board holds a supper and auction to raise funds to keep up maintenance and utilities on the building. This year, the annual supper and auction will be held on September 29, at 5:30 p.m.
