Superintendent’s Statement on School Reopening Plans

During Governor Gordon’s most recent COVID-19 news conference, Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balow addressed the issue of reopening schools. Superintendent Balow said that the Adapted Learning Plans that each school district implemented are authorized for use until the end of the school year.
Balow said that to the extent practicable, she encouraged all schools to examine the feasibility of utilizing this flexibility for three primary reasons.
Balow said that clear protocols developed by each school district, approved by the local health officer and submitted to the Wyoming Department of Education, should be part of every school district’s reopening schools plan. She added that in the coming days, she will provide guidance to school districts throughout the state that will include a template for reopening schools.
