Yellowstone National Park Fire Danger: HIGH

According to the Office of the Superintendent of Strategic Communications of Yellowstone National Park, the fire danger in the park is high. 

The superintendent has reported the parkwide fire danger level for Yellowstone at HIGH. Currently, there are no active wildland fires in the park. At this time, there are no fire restrictions in place or planned in the park.

Campfires are only permitted within established fire rings in campgrounds and some backcountry campsites and must always be attended and cold to the touch before abandoning. The superintendent’s office is advising visitors to soak, stir, feel, repeat until their campfire is cold.

The Greater Yellowstone area is a fire-adapted ecosystem. Fire plays an important role in maintaining the health of the Nation’s oldest National Park wildlife habitat and vegetation.
