Sheridan’s Civic Theatre Guild will be hosting auditions for the opening play of the 2024-2025 season: “The Foursome,” a comedy by Norm Foster.

Sheridan Civic Theater Guild Board President Aaron Odom and Director of the upcoming performance, Dan Cole made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to invite the public to upcoming auditions and discuss the play’s unusual format.

Foster’s The Foursome revolves around friends from college, who reunite after a reunion to play 18 holes of golf. Cole said the play does have a lot of dialogue, but each scene takes place at the tee box of each hole.

The four characters never really leave the stage. The conversations revolve comedically around how each life has changed over the course of 20 years.

The first performance will be Sept. 19, and is the opener for the 2024-25 season at the Sheridan Civic Theater. Odom said the play was intentionally selected as the themes and setting will be familiar and fresh in the minds of the audience.

Although the characters’ ages range in the mid-to-late 40s, Cole and Odom are inviting actors of all ages to come in and audition. Auditions will be held at the Carriage House Theater at 419 Delphi Ave. on July 15 and 16, beginning at 7 p.m.

Parts will be available for four men, and no audition preparation will be necessary. Participants will be asked to do cold readings from the script, based upon the character descriptions that will be provided.

Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, July 17, and will continue in the evenings Monday through Thursday, with additional days to be added only if needed.

Performance dates will be Sept. 19-22 and Sept. 26-29, 2024.
