The cost of higher education has risen in recent years and that has resulted in many prospective students reconsidering if college is the right move for them. In an attempt to alleviate that stress for Wyoming students, the University of Wyoming has announced the implementation of new financial pledges. In 2019, the UW Board of Trustees approved The Cowboy Commitment financial pledge that includes both merit and need based funding to offset education costs for in-state families.

The pledge includes commitments of up to $6,500 for high school graduates, based upon their academic performance. There is also $4,000 for transfer students from Wyoming’s community colleges that qualify. Those students that would like to take advantage of the monies will need to confirm their enrollment to the institution by May 1.
