The Johnson County Tourism Association (JCTA) is wanting to increase the Lodging Tax in the county to levels seen in neighboring counties and other states.

Board Chairwoman Jody Sauers and Marketing Director Toby Carrig spoke to the county commission during their last meeting to explain further.

Sauers said the JCTA also provided $30,000 in community grants for events, trails maintenance, and contributed to many other entities in the community, and said the increase in funding from the Lodging Tax would allow them to give back more to local organizations.

The JCTA will be printing fliers to ask Johnson County voters to increase the Lodging Tax, and will bring a draft before the commission at their next meeting.

Sauers and Carrig also reported that their new website is up and running, and we have provided a link to the website with this story at sheridanmedia.com.
