The Wyoming State Department of Workforce Services says the labor market in the state may be tightening, based on unemployment numbers from March of last year to March of this year.
The statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Wyoming is down from 3.0% in March of 2023 to 2.8% in March of 2024.
It’s also the second straight month that the state rate is unchanged, but it’s below the national average.
The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2024 was at 3.8%, which is down from 3.9% in February, and up from 3.5% in March 2023.
Sheridan County checked in at 3.1% in March 2024, which is down from 3.5% in February, and down from 3.6% in March 2023.
Johnson County was at 3.5% last month, and that’s down from 3.7% in February 2024, and down from 3.7% in March 2023.
Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate in Wyoming in March 2024 at 2.1%, while Big Horn County had the highest rate at 4.4%.
Nonfarm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 2,700 jobs from March 2023 to March 2024.
