Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Employment Specialist Maggie Randall said there are plenty of jobs in the Sheridan area for those looking for employment or perhaps break into a new field.

Within the department, Randall’s duty is to find employment for residents.

As with many locations, Sheridan’s employment trends tend to ebb and flow with the seasons.

In an article published by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Feb. 13, the Chamber found that if every unemployed person in the country found a job, the U.S. would still have 2.4 million jobs available. Sheridan County’s unemployment rate was 3.5% in February 2024, unchanged from January, and down from 3.8% in February 2023.

An initial search for jobs online in Sheridan County showed well over 100 jobs available. Those job listings include entry level to professional positions requiring years of education and experience. According to Randall, it’s a worker’s market.

A Career Fair is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, in the Golden Dome on the Sheridan College Campus. Randall said a few employers that plan to attend the fair have intentions to hire much needed workers on the spot should they find the right candidate.

Free to attend for both the employers and job seekers, organizers are asking employers to register ahead of time. Employers can register with Sheridan College by calling 307-675-0100. The number of employers is growing but will be capped at 110.
