The Sheridan Memorial Hospital will soon be extending its hours of operation for patients who need outpatient imaging expansion.
At last week’s meeting, the Hospital Board of Trustees approved extending the Monday thru Friday hours of operation for the Outpatient Imaging Center to 12 hours a day, beginning this coming spring.
Currently, the center which is located within the radiology department is open Monday thru Friday from 8am until 4:30pm.
Examples of outpatient imaging include an MRI, a CT, an X-Ray, an ultrasound and a nuclear stress test.
Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty says there’s enough patients that need the service to support the extension of operating hours.
“We’ve seen enough demand from our community to be able to grow and expand to better meet the needs of our community and so having that 12 hours a day, we’ll probably be 8am till 8pm Monday thru Friday beginning this spring.”
McCafferty adds the hospital is looking into the possibility of having the Outpatient Imaging Center open on Saturdays as well, but it would not be open for 12 hours, like it will be on Mondays thru Fridays.
