Aaron PalmerState Senator Dave Kinskey (R-Sheridan) was reinstated as the chairman of the Joint Appropriations Committee on the first day of this year’s legislative session in Cheyenne.
According to a report from Cowboy State Daily, the Senate voted 17-14 to reinstate Sen. Kinskey as chairman and remove Sen. Tara Nethercott (R-Cheyenne) from the position.
Wyoming Senate President Ogden Driskill (R-Devils Tower) “made the decision to replace Kinskey in April 2023 after what he described as a ‘recurring pattern’ of poor communication from the Sheridan legislator.”
Sen. Kinskey sent a response to Sheridan Media via text message Monday afternoon that read, “ I’m gratified by the support of my colleagues in the Senate who voted to reverse the decision of the Senate president and restore me as the chairman of the Joint Appropriations Committee.”
“I will continue my service as a conservative member of the Senate focused on keeping taxes low and government small.”
“The effort to remove me as JAC chairman was unfortunate, and now it’s time to put that behind us and get to work delivering a fiscally responsible budget for the state of Wyoming.”
This year’s legislative budget session continues this week in Cheyenne.
