Aaron PalmerA request by the Big Horn Woman’s Club for One-Percent Funding to use to become Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant has been approved by the Sheridan County Commission.
During the commission’s recent meeting, County Administrative Director Cameron Duff gave details on the need for the funding.
Members of the public spoke in favor of the county funding the proposed project, citing the use of the building as a polling place during elections and use by numerous organizations that may require ADA compliance.
Others spoke against the funding due to the belief there may be other polling areas possibly available in the Big Horn community.
Representatives from the Elections Office did say they would prefer to not change polling stations in Big Horn if possible.
Commissioner Holly Jennings spoke against the funding.
The commission voted to approve the funding with Commissioner Jennings voting against.
