Downtown Sheridan Main Street was closed again for some time this past Friday (November 24th), and the reason for the closure was a welcome and festive one.
The Christmas Stroll took place as several thousand shoppers and browsers filled the Sheridan Main Street sidewalks and Main Street itself, to take advantage of Black Friday Sales, and enjoy the Holiday festivities on a chilly Friday.
Stores opened their doors as early as 8am, and then Main Street was closed from 4 until 8pm to allow evening festivities to take place.
Michelle Maneval who owns the Sheridan Sports Shop says after enduring nearly 6 months of construction, she’s seeing green in more than one way and the only red she wants to see is the one associated with the holidays.
“The momentum of the stroll has always been great. People love to come around and look at things and get their ideas for Christmas and there’s been a lot of shopping because it’s cold, so we sold a lot of hats and gloves to personals and not gift shopping, which always happens when it’s cold, but it means a lot that the town would come back out and support local downtown and I hope to see it all at Christmas, because all of us retailers downtown could use that extra boost from what we’ve just been through over the last few months.”
Check back later for a video of the Christmas Stroll.
