On October 30, the City of Sheridan announced that Sheridan’s third annual Fall Pumpkin Festival will be held on Saturday, November 4 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This year the festival will be held at Sheridan Junior High School.

The entire community is invited to smash, trash, and launch their pumpkins across the parking lot. Pumpkin smashing and launching, fall activities, prizes, pumpkin t-shirts and hats are all free, while supplies last.

“Why? Well, why not!? It helps the City of Sheridan keep pumpkins out of the landfill and, instead, recycle them while having a ton of fun,” said Seliena Parker, City of Sheridan’s recycling & solid waste coordinator. “Last year more than 600 people attended, and we smashed and launched more than 6,000 lbs. worth of pumpkins. Overall, the community helped us recycle 12,290 lbs. of pumpkins, which were added to the City’s compost. This year, we hope to beat that number by a few thousand pounds.”

While the smashing, launching and trashing will happen outside in the Sheridan Jr. High parking lot, inside families will find fun Fall-themed activities and prizes sponsored by Sheridan-area organizations, including American Pacific Mortgage, Cascades of Sugarland Ridge, ERA Carroll Realty, First Federal Bank, First Interstate Bank, Sheridan Foster Parent Exchange, Sheridan Kiwanis Club, Sheridan Honda, Sheridan Recreation District, Rollie Hruza State Farm, and 307 Real Estate. Crazy Woman Face Painting, Big Horn Mountain Radio and ZaZa Tacos will also be on hand for added fun.
