The town of Clearmont held their monthly meeting on Oct. 16. One visitor to the meeting was Carrie Rogaczewski, of the Sheridan County Conservation District, who talked to the board about the oil collection tank in Clearmont.

She added that the funds only went to collection and disposal of the oil, not for administration or any other costs. The council voted to approve a payment to the SCSD of $300 for the oil recycling tank in the town.

The SCCD provides used oil collection for tanks in the towns of Dayton and Clearmont for public use. These towns have provided the necessary cooperation in this program to allow several thousand gallons of used oil to be recycled on an annual basis.

In other business, the council discussed Water Well #3, and Mayor Chris Schock said he planned to hold a meeting which would include all the engineers that were involved in the project to see what could be done about the well as there have been numerous problems with it.

Schock said that one pump was dropped into the well and broke, and now they will be putting in a new, smaller pump.

He mentioned that there were three applicants for the town clerk/treasurer position, and he would begin interviews later this week. He felt they should hire a new clerk as soon as possible to give Vivian Ramsay time to train the new hire before she moves away.

The town also will purchase a new riding lawn mower for maintenance, and maintenance man Pete Bassett is looking into the purchase of the mower and a snow plow attachment for it.

Next meeting will be November 20 at 6 p.m. at town hall.
