Sheridan College is making it a little easier for mothers, fathers and their newborns at feeding time.

The College recently opened a lactation room inside the Whitney Fine Arts Building.

The private room has a rocking chair, changing table, refrigerator and infant play area and is available for a parent that either can’t get infant care or they don’t want to be away from their infant.

Besides the room, College President Dr. Walter Tribley says in order to be more in compliance with Title 9, the college is trying to be more accessible and reasonably accommodating for those who are pregnant and/or lactating.

Dr. Walter Tribley

“It means a person experiencing pregnancy, if they have doctor’s appointments that get in the way of their educational program, our academic program will make room for them. They will allow those appointments to happen and help the student try not to miss a beat with their academic goals.”

The lactation room is located in room 160, within the Whitney Fine Arts Building.
