Sheridan Fire-Rescue (SFR), Sheridan Police Department (SPD), Wyoming Regional EMS (WREMS), and Goose Valley Fire Department (GVFD) responded to the report of a structure fire at 00:03 Monday, July 31, 2023.

SFR Engine 2 (E-2) arrived on scene at 545 E. Loucks at 00:06 finding a single story home with smoke showing from around the eaves of the home.

E-2’s crew deployed a preconnected handline to initiate fire attack and confirm that all occupants were out of the home.

SPD assisted with traffic and bystander control, while WREMS assisted with providing civilian and firefighter safety. Goose Valley Fire Department responded to provide additional personnel for fire suppression.

Once inside the home, E-2’s crew found a majority of smoke and a small fire in the attic space of the home.

The fire was quickly brought under control and the crew transitioned to pulling ceiling to check for extension of fire into adjacent areas of the building.

Fire crews conducted a search of the main floor to confirm there were no other occupants or pets still inside, finding no one.

The building was systematically ventilated and overhauled to remove all residual smoke, heat, and the potential for rekindle.

The scene was turned over to the Wyoming State Fire Marshal’s Origin and Cause Investigators and is currently under investigation.

The occupants and a couple of pets are currently displaced due to the extent of smoke and fire damage to the home.

No civilians, pets, or emergency personnel were injured during this fire.

SFR continues to stress the importance of maintaining working smoke and/or Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms.

These devices provide early notification of a fire or other potentially dangerous environment and allow occupants to escape quickly.
