Ramaco And Sheridan College Team Up To Provide Scholarships For STEM Students

One Sheridan County Company is providing college students an opportunity to get into the field of converting coal for other uses, besides combustion or burning.
Ramaco Resources has provided Sheridan College two $25,000 contributions, to be used as scholarships that students can use as a work-study program, within Ramaco’s iCAM research center near the Brook Mine.
The scholarship is a work-study program and recipients will serve as paid summer interns and work with scientists and researchers to convert coal into high value advanced carbon products and materials.
Ramaco CEO Randy Atkins explains the reason for the contributions.
“There are not a lot of opportunities for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students to be able to find interesting technological cutting edge jobs in this area and we hope over the years to come, to be able to provide that and for this type of scholarship to promote that.”
The financial contributions to Sheridan College are being made as two $25,000 installments.
One installment was presented last week, and the other will be presented at around this time next year.
