Sheridan And Johnson County Unemployment Rates Increase In January 2023

For the second month in a row, Wyoming’s unemployment rate is higher than the national average, and although the state month-to-month numbers haven’t changed much, the numbers in the northeast part of the state have increased.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the statewide unemployment rate held steady at 3.9% from December 2022 to January 2023.
It was 3.5% in January of 2022.
The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January 2023 was at 3.4%, which is down from 3.5% from December 2022, and down from 4.0% in January 2022.
Sheridan County’s unemployment rate for January was at 4.3%, which is up from 3.6% in December.
Johnson County’s rate for January was also at 4.3%, and that is up from 3.7% in December.
The January 2022 rates for both Sheridan and Johnson Counties was at 5.2% and 4.4% respectively.
Campbell County’s rate for January 2023 was at 4.0% and that’s up from 3.2% the month before.
Teton County had the lowest unemployment rate in Wyoming in January 2023 at 2.7%, while Sweetwater County had the highest rate at 5.3%.
Nonfarm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 6,700 jobs from January 2022 to January 2023.
