The Wyoming Legislature wrapped up their 2023 session last week, and Representative Cyrus Western spoke with Sheridan Media about his thoughts on the session.

He was asked about the public’s perception that the legislature passed fewer bills than average this year.

Western said there were a lot of new members in the legislature this year who wanted the opportunity to talk and debate the issues, which is what they were elected to do, but that has a negative aspect as well.

Western said at the end of the day, that is a consensus decision made by the legislative body as a whole.

There’s an old saying that no ones wallet is safe while a legislature is in session. So maybe the fewer bills they pass the better. The exceptions being anything that lowers taxes and returns power to the rightful owners, we the people. Since they failed to lower our taxes, they failed!
