State Senator Dave Kinskey (R-Sheridan) gave the first of many weekly updates with Sheridan Media from the State Legislative Session in Cheyenne this past week, and he discussed one of the issues that many in the state are concerned with-property tax relief.

Kinskey explained an idea from a former lawmaker that may be a fix for the problem.

Kinskey said there are a number of different ideas being discussed on how to give property owners in the state relief from skyrocketing property taxes, some of which are extremely complicated or may require Constitutional amendments.

He sees the discussions among his peers in the legislature concerning property tax relief as a positive.

We will have more from Senator Kinskey later this week.

Thanks so much for all of your efforts on this issue Dave. Wyoming residents do need property tax relief. Inflation is hitting many residents hard & we hope that you can get this legislation passed.

Property tax should be based on purchase value only. It will change when the property is sold. Ranches and farms should be taxed on purchase value also not the mysteryous production value.

My taxes in Jackson doubled 98% in one year. Went from $12,000 to $20,000+. I’m 75 years old lived in Jackson for 44 years. My house is 26 years old two bedroom and two bathrooms. This is stupid amount of money to pay at my age.
