Barrasso Seeks Answers from DOE on Grant to Company With Ties to China

U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, recently sent a letter to Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm regarding a grant that was awarded to a company that operates primarily out of the Peoples’ Republic of China. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
A $200 million Department of Energy grant to Microvast, a lithium battery company that operates manufacturing bases in the United States, Germany and China, was the driving force behind a letter that Senator Barrasso sent to Secretary of Energy Granholm. Barrasso talks about how the grant award to Microvast is a danger to our national security.
I asked the Senator what kind of a response he expected to receive from Secretary Granholm.
In closing of the letter, Barrasso asked that the secretary provide answers and follow-up no later than December 21.
