Special Council Meeting Held for License Revocation Ordinance

The Sheridan City Council held a special meeting Monday night to consider first reading of an ordinance outlining the contractor license revocation process. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Following a public hearing and a brief presentation on the ordinance by City Attorney Brendon Kerns, the City Council gave first reading approval to ordinance 2257. The ordinance is a redraft of the current ordinance pertaining to revocation of a contractor’s license. Kerns said the redraft provides a better explanation of the revocation process, protects the due process of the license holder, and provides a clear appeal process.
The ordinance must be approved two more times before it goes into effect. The special meeting was held to expedite the approval process due to the illegality of the current ordinance pertaining to contractor license revocation.
