cvannoyBig Horn Home Builders Home and Garden Show is being held this weekend at the Ramada Plaza in Sheridan. The show started at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 22, and continues through Sunday until 3 p.m. Due to the upcoming winter storm which hit on Friday night, there was a good crowd on Friday at the show.
With over 50 booths, the home show had everything one would need to purchase land and built a home in Sheridan.
The first thing that someone who wants to relocate in Sheridan would do would be to come and look over the area. That is where Fly Sheridan comes in. Steve Maier of CAST, (Sheridan and Johnson County Critical Air Service Team) continues working to keep reliable air service in Sheridan. Currently, Sheridan is served by United Express that is a partner United Airlines, that provides air service to over 300 cities.
Once the prospective home buyer decides Sheridan where he wants to put down roots, they would visit one of the many real estate agents that had booths at the show, to purchase a house, or, with the current housing shortage around Sheridan, buy a piece of raw land to build on. To do this, most people need a construction loan, and there were several banks represented at the show.
Now that the loans is approved, and you have a title, there were many construction firms with booths that one can visit to get ideas of what they offer for the future home owner.
If the homeowner wants a country setting, water is important. In Wyoming, water can be deep and hard to find. Not all wells are created equal as far as water quality and taste is concerned. Water Products & Solutions Derek Lowe explains what they do.
A good roof is important. One wants to choose the right roofing material, and the right instillation.
There were many booths for interior design. Flooring, wood, tile or carpet; furniture and fixtures will be needed when the house is done as well as appliances and bathroom fixtures. Heat, air conditioning, windows and blinds all were featured as well. Cleaning the house and keeping the heat and air ducts clean is also important.
Of course, your kids want a pet. The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter had several adoptable dogs strutting their stuff around the home show.
Landscaping is important, trees help to keep the home cool in the summer and help to break the wind and snow during a Wyoming winter. Grass and flower beds make the home an oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of life. A fenced yard is a great place for kids and the new pet to play. A vegetable garden can provide fresh vegetables for health. Maybe one wants a water feature, or a foundation.
There were greenhouses on display, and a range of lawn and farm tractors in the parking lot for all your garden or landscaping needs.
What is a home without artwork, colorful scenes to bring the great Wyoming scenery inside?
The Home Show, still going on at the Ramada Plaza in Sheridan, a place to get ideas and inspiration, whether your home is in town or in the country, and whether it is old and needs an update or is still just in the dreaming stage.
