Ron RichterA former executive at the Wyoming Department of Education has announced her intentions to run for the position of Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction. During a Zoom call with members of the media Thursday afternoon, Megan Degenfelder, a Casper native and 6th generation Wyomingite, talked about being a product of Wyoming’s K-12 public school system and the University of Wyoming.
Degenfelder, as superintendent, said she would empower parents as the number one voice in their children’s education.
In January, Governor Mark Gordon appointed Brian Schoeder as Superintendent of Public Instruction to serve the remainder of the term of former superintendent Jillian Balow, who on January 13, announced her resignation to accept the position of superintendent in Virginia. The candidate filing period for the Primary Election is May 12 through the 27.
