Dianna Sullivan

Graveside funeral services for Dianna Sullivan, 70 year old Buffalo resident who passed away early Saturday morning at her home in Buffalo following a long  and courageous battle with cancer, will be held Friday, April 9th at 11:00 a.m. in Willow Grove Cemetery with Father Pete Johnson officiating.  A vigil service will be held and the Rosary Recited on Thursday April 8th at 6:00 at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo. Donations in Dianna’s memory may be made to the St. Joseph’s Children’s Home in Torrington in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Dianna Lynn Sullivan was born December 10, 1950 in Casper, Wyoming to John and Cleda Bennett. She went to school in Casper and also the St. Joseph Children’s Home in Torrington an agency of social ministry in the Catholic tradition.  She lived with her sister in Buffalo for a few years and attended Johnson County High School.  She returned to Casper to live with her father and attended Kelly Walsh High School where she graduated with the class of 1969.  She was married on July 12, 1969 in Buffalo at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church to Michel Sullivan.  Mike joined the U.S. Marines in 1968 and got orders to serve in Vietnam in August of 1969 and at that time Dianna attended Casper College and studied nursing, receiving her LPN License in 1971.   When Mike returned from Vietnam she joined him in California where Mike completed his military commitment. Following his discharge in May of 1972 they returned to Buffalo and Dianna took a job with the Johnson County Hospital where she worked for three years. In 1976 they started a family with the birth of their first son Scott and Dianna then took a job nursing at the Veteran’s Home of Wyoming. Their second son Shawn was born in the Fall of 1978 and Dianna continued working at the Veteran’s Home where she worked for over 30 years retiring in 2008. In her retirement she worked as a cook in the school lunch program for School District #1.  She then took a job at the Buffalo Children’s Center where she intended to take care of the infants.  She was, instead put with the toddlers and her employment there lasted four hours. Later that afternoon she applied for a position as a cook at the Johnson County Criminal Justice Center, an “adult” day care that better suited her skill set.  One inmate told her “this is the best jail food in the State of Wyoming. Trust me I know.” Dianna completely retired in 2011 and she and Mike continued living in Buffalo until her death.

Dianna loved cooking for and spending time with her family.   She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a very devoted member.  She was an avid reader and loved reading mystery novels especially C.J. Box. She was an animal lover and enjoyed many years with her beloved dogs. She is survived by her husband Mike Sullivan of Buffalo; two sons, Shawn Sullivan and his wife Brandi of Buffalo and Scott Sullivan of Parker, Colorado; two brothers, John Bennett and his wife Nimfa and Pat Bennett all of Casper; one sister Joan Eshelman also of Casper; and four grandchildren, Payton and Sawyer Sullivan of Buffalo, Blake Sullivan also of Parker and Christen Nieman of Galt, California.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Connie Jones, and three brothers, Jimmy, Michael, and Frank Bennett.
