Several community members attended the special board meeting and Listening Session of the SCSD#3 Board of Trustees held on Saturday, February 22, to discuss the attendance policy, capital projects and legislative topics that may affect the school.

One of the topics was HB 125 to repeal the gun-free zones. Mayor Chris Schock attended the meeting, and had this comment.

According to Shock, this would include schools and town halls, any athletic event taking place on public property that does not sell alcoholic. One cannot carry a weapon into a federal building, such as a post office.

Superintendent Chase Christensen mentioned the supplemental budget bill, which passed the house but is still in the senate, which will affect Wyoming schools.

Schock asked the board about two positions that the school is advertising for, Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Instruction at the school. He was concerned about where the money would come from. Christensen responded that there would be no increase in costs, or very little increase for the positions, as it would be more adding duties and the titles to existing staff in the school, and not new hires.

The school attendance policy was discussed, and the policy is in step with the state of Wyoming Absentee and Truancy Statute.

Christensen also talked about the Capital Construction projects that the school is working on. One is the greenhouse, and it is nearly finished, and there will be a ribbon cutting on March 18 at 5 p.m.

He added that the driveway is finished.

A/C School Board of Trustees would like to than those who attended and shared their concerns.
