As a part of the Midas Corporation’s 68th anniversary, Midas of Sheridan recently teamed up with another local company, Napa Auto Parts, to help make sure that four area residents now have reliable transportation.

The Sheridan and Johnson County residents in need of car repairs were encouraged to enter the Fix-It-For-a-Cause contest through the Sheridan Media website in July. Out of the 75 people who entered, four people/families were chosen to participate in the program.

Brian Rachubinski, regional manager of Midas, had this to say about the promotion.

The new owners of Sheridan’s Independent NAPA store, Chad and Tammy Switzenberg, talked about the program and Napa’s contribution, which consisted of parts for the vehicles.

Switzenbergs have only operated the store since the first of August, and Chad said that the previous owners, Steve and Kathy Thompson, worked with Midas before, and Switzenbergs are committed to continuing the program.

The four people who won the contest brought their vehicles in and the staff at Midas went through the cars, made sure that their vehicles were safe, and fixed any repairs that needed to be done. Between Midas and Napa there was a total of $8,000 contributed.

Matt Lube, of Midas, added this about the contribution to the Sheridan Community

He added about Midas and Napa,

The residents who were recipients of the repairs were:

David Smith and the Fisher family, who use their van for primary transport to and from medical appointments in Denver and Billings. Major oil leaks on engine and transmission as well as steering component wear were cause for concern. All items were addressed as well as basic maintenance.

Josh and Angel Nash are a young couple with children. Their second car developed issues and stopped running. Another mechanic diagnosed as major transmission failure, so car has been parked for months leaving family with one car. This presented challenges for getting to work, school, etc. Properly diagnosed and repaired issues and addressed safety issues with steering system and drive line. Midas also Performed routine maintenance due at this time on engine and transmission.

Brooke Bass is single mom working to make ends meet. Hers is an older car passed down from family member but has no heater function. It had been diagnosed previously and it needed an expensive heater core repair, so she had been parking car in winter as there was also no defrost, which meant she often had to walk to and from work. Repaired this issue as well as addressed safety issue with front suspension and performed routine maintenance due at this time.

She had this to say about the program

Bryan McLean is young man working hard to get established. He is struggling to get ahead with recent home purchase and required repairs. Car had cooling leak that had been repaired at another shop recently but still minor issue. Midas technicians diagnosed and properly addressed issue as well as replaced all brakes and brake fluid for safety concern.

Midas has been repairing cars for Sheridan area residents for 18 years. Matt Lube has been the owner of the independent Midas store for 15 years.
