At the Wednesday, Nov. 8, SCSD#3 Board Meeting, the board honored retiring teacher Carol Perry for her years of teaching at Arvada-Clearmont School.

Superintendent Chase Christensen said this about Mrs. Perry

He also thanked her for the work she did over the past year to ensure that the results of the peer accreditation visit were what the school wanted. The visit was tremendous and was successful in no small part to Perry’s work.

The board also voted to approve Robert Prusak for the SCSD#3 four-year-term on the Whitney Benefits Board.

In other business the board discussed the upcoming WSBA voting items, including parental rights, BOCES Funding, and supporting charter schools in the state. Trustee and Vice Chairman Betz, who chaired the meeting in the absence of Amy Vineyard, Chairman, said he felt that the more choice in schools the better. Trustee Karis Prusak will be the SCSD#3 representative to the WSBA.

Christensen mentioned two upcoming dates for community engagement with the school, the legislative dinner coming up on December 4 at 6 p.m.

The dinner is free, but people have to RSVP before 4 p.m. on Nov. 30 to make sure the school can order sufficient food.

He talked about the December 6 community lunch as well. The cost is $5 and those planning to attend should call the school and reserve a spot by Nov. 30.

In the superintendent’s report Christensen reported on the Fuel Depot project.

He also talked about A/C Project for the 7-12 grade rooms during the warm weather in the spring and fall, and the tree planting project.

Betz felt the students should be involved in the tree planting.

The board will continue to discuss the projects.

The next meeting will be held on December 13 at 7 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at the school.
