Graveside funeral services for John Miller, an 84-year-old Buffalo resident who died suddenly at his home in Buffalo Friday evening will be held Friday, September 23rd at 2:00 p.m. in Willow Grove Cemetery with Pastor Dan Gay officiating.  Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry, PO Box 909 Buffalo, Wyoming 82834.  Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com.

John Leslie Miller was born on March 29, 1938, in Buffalo, Wyoming to Lige and Eva (Steinmark) Miller. He grew up and went to school in Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1956. In May of 1963, he received his Professional Land Surveyor License.  He was married in November 1956 to Joyce Somers and divorced in March 1969. This marriage resulted in three daughters, Janet Lynn, Jean Anne, and Beverly.  In July 1971 he married Margaret Davis Kelly and she passed away in July of 2011.  On November 11, 2012, he married Suzanne Milnichak Huson and they made their home in Buffalo.

John started working for the Wyoming Highway Department in September of 1956 weighing trucks and working on survey crews.  He spent his working life as a surveyor for the State of Wyoming and retired on June 30, 1992, and continued living in Buffalo until his death.

John served on the Buffalo City Council from 1983 until 1986 and 1993 until 2002.  He also served on the Buffalo Swimming Pool Board for 19 years and continued to serve on boards until 2016 when he resigned from the 1% tax board. He is survived by his wife Suzanne Miller of Buffalo; three daughters, Janet Miller and Ann Harrod, Sheridan, Wyoming and Beverly Decker of Castle Rock, Colorado; two stepsons, Shane Kelly of Tennessee and Paul Huson of Gillette, Wyoming; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and an infant daughter.
