One Sheridan High School track and field senior has ‘thrown’ her way into an athletic scholarship.
Hanah Sullivan, who competes in the shot put and discus competitions, has signed her Letter Of Intent (LOI) to continue throwing at Black Hills State University.
She placed 4th in the shot put at the state indoor meet back in March, and was 5th in the discus at the state outdoor meet last year.
Sullivan says there’s a lot more to the shot put and discus events than just throwing a lot at practice.
“I’ve done a weight lifting class every year for both semesters, at the high school and then we also do a weightlifting program through track and field, and then we do a lot of technique work and work just to make sure we can control our bodies, lifting heavy objects at maximum speed.”
Sullivan adds she plans to major in environmental science.
