Sheridan HS Basketball: The Sheridan High School Broncs Boys and Girls Basketball teams played in their home finale this past Friday against Campbell County and split those games, with the girls getting the win.

The boys lost out on a chance to grab the #1 seed in the 4A East, which the Camels have now secured.

The team can still grab the #2 seed if they win their regular season finale this Saturday at Thunder Basin.


Tongue River/Big Horn/Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: The Tongue River girls are now 20-1 on the season thanks to wins back on Friday at home vs. Moorcroft and on Saturday at Sundance.

The TR boys split their games, and got the win on Friday.

The Big Horn boys lost on Friday at home vs. Wright, and won on Saturday at Greybull, while the girls team won both games.

This weekend beginning Thursday is the 2A East Regional Tournament at Moorcroft.

The Rams drew the #3 seed and will play the host team in the first round on Thursday at 7pm.

The Eagles are the #5 seed and will play Pine Bluffs at 8:30pm.

The Lady Rams are the #4 seed and will rematch Wright on Thursday at 5:30pm.

The Lady Eagles are the #1 seed and have a first round bye.

They won’t play until Friday at 11:30am against the Wright/Big Horn winner.

As for Arvada-Clearmont, the girls team won at home vs. both Kaycee and Midwest this past weekend, while the boys team dropped both games.

This weekend beginning Thursday is the 1A East Regional Tournament at Upton.

The girls play in the first game of the day at 9am.

Since the boys team did not win a conference game, they are automatically eliminated and their season is over.

Sheridan County HS Wrestling: Both the Sheridan and Tongue River boys teams placed 3rd at their respective regional tournaments, while the Sheridan girls were 2nd.

For the Broncs, Keegan Rager and Kelten Crow each finished 1st in their respective weight classes.

Trey Breen and Nate Ridgeway are regional champs for the TR boys.

On the girls side, Lilyahna Hancock, Eva Anderson and Becca Oetken placed 1st in their brackets.

Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: Junior Ben Forsythe repeated as state champ in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke races, and Wyatt Olson placed 3rd in the 500 yard freestyle race, to help Sheridan place 5th at the state meet this past weekend in Gillette.

The Broncs 200 yard freestyle relay team also placed 3rd.

On top of winning his 2 races, Forsythe was named both the swimmer of the meet and the swimmer of the year.

Sheridan County HS Indoor Track and Field: This past weekend were the Simplot Games held in Pocatello, Idaho on the campus of Idaho State University.

Chance Morris won the 60 meter dash race, and 3 of the 4 relay teams for the Sheridan boys placed either 2nd or 3rd.

On the girls side, Lady Bronc Lilly Charest placed 2nd in the pole vault.

The next indoor track and field meet is scheduled for this coming Thursday at Gillette.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks won both games at Cody on Friday and Saturday by scores of 15-2 and 6-1.

In Friday’s game, Vincent Leaf and Deagan Watson each recorded a hat trick.

With the win, Sheridan has clinched a playoff spot in the NA3HL Frontier Division postseason.

This weekend is a big one as the Hawks will play their regular season home finale this Friday and Saturday against Helena, who are the defending Frasier Cup Champions, and have already locked up the #1 seed for the playoffs.

The puck drops both nights at 7:30pm.


Sheridan Hawks/Lady Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Lady Hawks concluded their regular season this past Saturday and Sunday with wins at Cheyenne.

Scores were 9-3 and 5-4.

With those wins, the Lady Hawks are 19-1 on the season and have secured the #1 seed for the state tournament, which is scheduled for March 7th thru the 9th at Pinedale.

As for the Sheridan Hawks boys team, their state tournament is this coming Friday thru Sunday at Cody.

Elsewhere in Sheridan hockey, yesterday the Sheridan Hawk blue team won the 10 and under state championship game at home 9-8 in overtime vs. Gillette.

Also the Sheridan 14 and under team won the A bracket of their state tournament in Laramie, beating Cody in the championship game 9-4.


University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys led by as many as 13 points in the first half of their Saturday game at home vs. San Jose State, but could not hold on and lost 82-73.

The opposition shot better than 55% in the second half and won the turnover battle.

For UW, Obi Agbim led the way with 20 points, while Jordan Nesbitt put in 18 and Cole Henry added in 11.

The Cowboys are now 12-16 on the season and have a 5-11 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Nevada.

The Wyoming Cowgirls had a comeback and finish they won’t forget for sometime.

Playing Saturday night at Nevada, the ladies only made 9 shots through 3 quarters and were trailing 37-28.

The opposition scored the 1st 5 points of the 4th quarter and were up 42-28 with 8 ½ minutes to go, but from that point on, it was all Cowgirls, as they would close out the game on a 17-zip run, to win 45-42.

On top of that, they did it without their leading scorer Allyson Fertig, who suffered an ankle injury in last Tuesday’s game vs. Boise State.

Tess Barnes led the team with 13 points, while Emily Mellema and Malene Pederson scored 10 points each.

Pederson was the one who hit what would be the game winning 3 with about 1 minute to go.

Wyoming is now 17-10 on the season with an 11-4 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The team next plays this coming Wednesday at home vs. New Mexico.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets lost on Saturday at home vs. LA Lakers 123-100.

The Nuggets next play today at Indiana, beginning at 5pm.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost both road games this weekend.

On Saturday, the team lost at Nashville 2-1, and lost yesterday at St. Louis 3-1.

The Avs next play on Wednesday at home vs. New Jersey.


Colorado Rockies Pre-Season Baseball: The Colorado Rockies went 3-1 in games played over the weekend.

On Friday the team won at Arizona 12-8.

Brenton Doyle hit a grand slam to lead the charge.

On Saturday, the team won at home vs. Arizona 9-3.

Zac Veen hit a 2-run home run and Michael Toglia added a 3-run shot of his own.

Yesterday was a split squad day, as the Rocks lost at the Athletics 4-zip, but won at home vs. Milwaukee 6-1.

Colorado plays today at San Francisco, starting at 1:05pm.
