Morning Sports: February 17, 2025

Sheridan HS Basketball: The regular season is starting to wind down on the Wyoming High School basketball season.
The Sheridan High School Broncs and Lady Broncs are in pretty good spots for the upcoming regional tournaments, and there’s still a little bit of time for those spots to get better.
This past weekend, both Sheridan teams won at home vs. Cheyenne South and Laramie.
For the Broncs, that sets up a 1st place battle this coming Friday in the home finale vs. Campbell County.
The Lady Broncs will battle the Lady Camels for 3rd and 4th place.
Tongue River/Big Horn/Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: Tongue River split games back on Friday at Wright, with the girls getting the win.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles will play their home finale this coming Friday vs. Moorcroft and then conclude the regular season on Saturday at Sundance.
Big Horn split their games this past weekend, with both teams losing on Friday at home vs. Sundance, and both won on Saturday at Moorcroft.
The Rams and Lady Rams will play their home finale this coming Friday vs. Wright and then conclude the regular season on Saturday at Greybull.
Arvada-Clearmont split their Friday games at Hulett with the girls picking up the win.
The Panthers and Lady Panthers will conclude their regular season with a pair of home games, this Friday vs. Kaycee and on Saturday vs. Midwest.

Sheridan County HS Wrestling: The post-season starts this weekend.
Regional Tournaments will set the stage for next weekend’s state meet.
For the boys, the 4A East Regional will take place this Friday at Cheyenne East, while the 2A East Regional is scheduled for Friday at Lingle-Ft. Laramie.
The girls east regional tournament is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at Cheyenne South.
Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: This weekend is the state meet at Gillette.
The 4A preliminary round starts at 3:30pm on Friday and the finals start at 10am Saturday.
Sheridan placed 4th at last year’s state meet.
Sheridan HS Nordic Ski: Sheridan competed at a 2-day meet at Cody this past weekend.
Kayley Alicke placed 3rd and 2nd respectively in the girls races.
This week is an off week from competition and the state meet is scheduled for February 28th and March 1st at Laramie.
Sheridan County HS Indoor Track and Field: All 3 Sheridan County High School Teams competed in Gillette back on Saturday.
The Sheridan boys placed 2nd and the girls were 1st out of 11 teams.
This weekend is the Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho on the campus of Idaho State University.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks split road games this past weekend at Gillette, losing on Friday 4-2 and winning Saturday 5-3.
With 6 games to go in the regular season, the team is currently in a 3-way tie for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in the NA3HL Frontier Division.
The Hawks are back on the road this weekend for a 2-game series at Cody and will return home the following weekend.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys were mostly a no-show on Saturday as the team lost at Colorado State 88-53.
The Rams shot nearly 61% from the field, hit 14 3’s and got 33 points from the bench.
For the Brown and Gold, Obi Agbim and Dontaie Allen each put in 15 points for the cause.
Wyoming is now 11-15 on the season, with a 4-11 record in the Mountain West Conference and have lost 5 in a row.
The Pokes next play tomorrow at home vs. Air Force.
The Wyoming Cowgirls won their 5th in a row this past Saturday as they defeated San Jose State at home 59-54.
The ladies shot 44% for the game and held the opposition to about 32%.
Malene Pedersen led all scorers with 21 points, while Allyson Fertig had a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
UW is now 16-9 on the season and have a 10-3 record in the Mountain West Conference.
The team next plays tomorrow at Boise State.
