Sheridan HS Basketball: For the second time this season, the Sheridan High School boys and girls basketball teams will be playing in Cheyenne, but this time, they will actually play the host schools.
The Broncs and Lady Broncs take on Cheyenne East tomorrow beginning at 6pm and then play at Cheyenne Central on Saturday beginning at 12 noon.
The Cheyenne East boys are the defending 4A State champs and the Cheyenne Central boys are currently undefeated.
Sheridan Boys Head Coach Jeff Martini says the Broncs need to make sure they bring their ‘A’ game, plus extra this weekend.
Statistically, the Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central boys teams are 2 of the top 3 teams in Class 4A in terms of scoring and shooting.
Big Horn, Tongue River and Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: Tonight is round 2 between Big Horn and Tongue River.
The girls tip off at 6:30 from Dayton and the boys game will follow.
Tomorrow, TR will host Rocky Mountain and then on Saturday, the Eagles and Lady Eagles will visit Sundance, while the Rams and Lady Rams are at home vs. Riverside.
Arvada-Clearmont is scheduled to play at Midwest on Saturday.
Sheridan County High School Wrestling: The Sheridan Broncs and Lady Broncs will compete at home for the first time since the season opener, which was almost 2 months ago.
Natrona is in town tonight for a dual.
The JV’s start at 5, the varsity girls will follow and then the varsity boys will follow after that.
Tomorrow Sheridan hosts Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central, and then Saturday the teams host Cheyenne South and Laramie.
Tongue River will compete tomorrow in 2 duals at Lovell.
They will take on both the Bulldogs and Moorcroft.
On Saturday, the Eagles and Lady Eagles will compete in a tournament at Greybull.
Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: Tomorrow and Saturday is the 4A East Conference Meet at Gillette.
The State meet is 2 weeks away in Laramie.
Nordic Ski This Weekend Postponed: This weekend’s nordic ski meet scheduled to take place at Cody has been postponed 2 weeks due to too much snow melt.
The skiers will try again next weekend at Lander.
Sheridan County HS Indoor Track and Field: Sheridan, Big Horn and Tongue River are all scheduled to compete at a meet at Gillette tomorrow.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The battle for 1st place in the Mountain West Conference, did not end the way that the Wyoming Cowgirls were hoping for.
The Cowgirls battled back a number of times, but their Achilles Heel in last night’s game was that they were only 2 of 19 shooting from 3-point land, and that did not help the cause in a 58-51 loss at UNLV.
Malene Pedersen and Emily Mellema scored a dozen points each, while McKinley Dickerson came off of the bench to add in 10.
UW is now 12-8 on the season with a 7-2 record in the conference, which puts them in a tie for 2nd and 3rd.
The team will regroup and are back at home this coming Saturday vs. Nevada.
The Wyoming Cowboys will take their turn at UNLV this coming Saturday.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets lost last night at Oklahoma City 105-100.
Denver’s next game is tomorrow at home vs. Portland.
Sheridan Hawks Hockey: In Junior Hockey, the Sheridan Hawks are home for tomorrow only as they host Gillette.
The puck drops at 7:30pm.
On Saturday, the Hawks will play at Gillette to start a 7-game road trip and will not return home until March 1st.
