Sheridan HS Basketball Teams Go 3-1 Vs. Gillette Teams: Quadrant play started for the Sheridan High School boys basketball team this past weekend, and the team made the most of it.

On Friday the Broncs won at Campbell County 59-55 and then on Saturday they got to play their first home game of the season and they defeated Thunder Basin 64-53.

Senior Garrett Spielman says the teams’ style of play tends to wear down opponents as the game goes on.

Meanwhile the Sheridan girls split their weekend games against the Gillette teams, and in one sense they got a big win.

On Friday the Lady Broncs lost at Campbell County 59-54, then they returned home and beat Thunder Basin on Saturday 62-41 and in the process, they finally got the monkey off their back by beating the Lady Bolts for the first time ever.

Senior Alli Ligocki says that win was very therapeutic.

Both the Sheridan boys and girls play Friday at Natrona and on Saturday at home vs. Worland.

Big Horn, Tongue River and Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: Big Horn split their home double-header vs. Sundance back on Saturday.

The boys won 60-40 while the girls lost 49-41.

The Rams and Lady Rams next play Friday at home vs. Wright and on Saturday at Rocky Mountain.

The Tongue River basketball teams won both of their 2A Northeast quadrants games at Wright on Saturday.

The boys score was 77-68, and the girls score was 40-22.

Both the Eagles and Lady Eagles play on Thursday at Kaycee and on Saturday at Greybull.

The Arvada-Clearmont teams dropped both games on Friday at Upton and both games on Saturday at home vs. Hulett.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers are back on the court tomorrow at home vs. the Campbell County sophomore team.


Sheridan County High School Wrestling: Both the Sheridan boys and girls finished 1st at the Moorcroft Invitational.

The boys won 2 weight classes and the girls 3.

This week is a big week.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs will warm up with a dual at Kelly Walsh on Thursday, and then Friday and Saturday it’s the Ron Thon Invitational at Riverton, which is considered a preview of the state meet.

The Tongue River wrestlers will next compete Saturday at Hardin, Montana.

Sheridan HS Boys Swimming: Sheridan won a dual on Friday at Natrona. (Click here to see results)

The Broncs will compete in their home finale tomorrow at 4pm vs. Campbell County and Thunder Basin.


Sheridan HS Nordic Ski: The Nordic Ski team was at Pinedale this past weekend, and have this week off from competition. (Click here to see results)

They will compete next week Friday and Saturday at Cody.


Sheridan County HS Indoor Track and Field: All 3 Sheridan County High School Indoor Track and Field teams competed at Gillette this past Saturday. (Click here to see results)

Sheridan will be back in action on Thursday at Gillette again, while Big Horn and Tongue River have the week off from competition.


University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys dug themselves into a 15-5 hole early on at home vs. Nevada on Saturday and then got their act together.

The Pokes shot better than 57% for the game and they needed it to win 98-93.

Sam Griffin led all scorers with 26 points.

Akuel Kot put in 20.

Brendan Wenzel added 19 and Mason Walters contributed with 11.

The Cowboys are now 10-8 on the season and have a 3-2 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The team will be back in action tomorrow at San Diego State.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.

As for the Wyoming Cowgirls, they also had a good game shooting, hitting 50% from the field, drained 11 3’s and it paid off in a back-and-forth win at home vs. Colorado State 67-63.

Emily Mellema scored 25 points and Allyson Fertig put in 16.

UW is now 10-7 on the season with a 5-1 record in the Mountain West Conference.

They next play Wednesday at home vs. Air Force.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets became the first team to win at Boston this season, as they beat the Celtics 102-100 on Friday.

The Nuggets followed up that win with another win yesterday at Washington 113-104.

Denver next plays tomorrow at Indiana.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche closed out their 5-game East Conference road trip with a 7-4 win on Saturday at Philadelphia.

The Avs are back at home Wednesday vs. Washington.


Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks split their weekend home games vs. Butte.

The team won on Friday 3-2 in overtime, but lost on Saturday 6-5.

In the standings, the Hawks are tied for 5th and 6th place with Rapid City, and Butte is just 1 point behind both teams.

Sheridan is only 3 points behind in the playoff chase and now enters the hard part of their schedule.

They have 12 games remaining and 9 of the next 10 are on the road starting this weekend at Rapid City.
