Cold Temperature Affect High School Sporting Events: Out of the need for safety from the extreme cold temperatures, a number of high school sporting events have been canceled or postponed this weekend.
The Sheridan boys and girls basketball teams did play their games last night at Kelly Walsh which was their only game scheduled for this week.
The boys won 46-42 and the girls won 52-43.
Shoshoni was able to make the trip to Big Horn last night for their scheduled games.
The BH boys won 65-38 and the girls won 40-18.
The Tongue River basketball teams will not make the trip to Shoshoni today.
Tomorrow, the Eagles visit the Rams and those games are still on.
The girls are scheduled to tip at 2:30pm and the boys at 4pm.
The Arvada-Clearmont boys and girls basketball teams are scheduled to compete today and tomorrow at the Little 6 Invitational at Dubois.
At 2pm and 3:30pm A-C will take on Ten Sleep and then at 5 and 6:30pm they play against the host team.
Tomorrow the Panthers and Lady Panthers are scheduled to take on the Fort Washakie JV beginning at 12:30 and 2pm.
Buffalo and Kaycee basketball games scheduled for today and tomorrow have been postponed.
None of the Sheridan County High School wrestlers and boys swimmers will compete this weekend, because of the cold.
The Indoor Track and Field season was supposed to start this weekend.
Tomorrow’s meet at Gillette has been postponed to Monday.
University Of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys are scheduled to be back in action tomorrow at home vs. Fresno State.
Tipoff is scheduled for 2pm and you can hear that game LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.
The Wyoming Cowgirls have the weekend off from competition, and next play Wednesday at New Mexico.
Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks are back on the home ice for the first time in more than 1 month as they host Rapid City.
The puck drops at 7:30pm both nights.
Last week, the team had to shake off a little bit of rust as they squandered a 3-zip lead last Friday at Cody, but recovered and needed all of 10 seconds of overtime to win.
Then on Saturday, Sheridan took no prisoners and cruised to a 9-1 win.
Coach J.J. Santagata says there were some great and not so great moments last weekend and when it comes to the games tonight and tomorrow, the Hawks need to play more like they did last Saturday than they did last Friday.
Currently Sheridan is in 5th place in their division and are 4 points behind for a playoff spot with less than 2 months remaining in the season.
Rapid City is in a tie for 6th and 7th and are only 2 points behind the Hawks.
