Wyoming High School Winter Sports Season Starts Tomorrow: Competition for the Wyoming High School Winter Sports season starts tomorrow and the Sheridan County teams have a busy opening weekend.

In basketball, Sheridan will play 4 teams in 3 days at Riverton.

Tomorrow, they’ll play the Wolverines.

The girls game tips off at 6pm and the boys game will follow afterwards.

You can hear the action LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs will also play Rawlins, Jackson and Star Valley…with 2 of those games being played on Saturday.

Big Horn and Tongue River will head to Burns this weekend for a number of games.

On Friday, BH will play Mitchell, Nebraska at 1pm and Wheatland at 7pm.

The Rams and Lady Rams will play Newcastle on Saturday beginning at 1pm.

TR will play Southeast at 10am on Friday and Douglas at 7pm that same day.

On Saturday they’ll play Moorcroft at 1pm.

Arvada-Clearmont will play 2 games on Saturday at Upton.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers will take on Meeteetse beginning at 9am and Riverside at 12-noon.

In other winter sports, the defending 4A state champ Sheridan bronc wrestlers will start the season with a dual meet tomorrow at home vs. Worland beginning at 5pm.

Afterwards, the Bronc JV team will take on the Tongue River varsity squad.

Sheridan will then compete at a tournament at Rapid City, South Dakota on Friday and Saturday.

The Sheridan boys swimming team will compete Friday and Saturday at Gillette, while the nordic ski team will start the season at Laramie.


University Of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys got back into the win column last night with an 80-59 win at home vs. the South Dakota School of Mines.

The Pokes only led by 1 at halftime, but then they turned things up a notch by shooting 60% from the field and scoring 45 points in the 2nd half.

Freshman Cam Manyawu led the way with a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Sam Griffin put in 17, and Akuel Kot contributed with 15.

The Cowboys are now 6-3 on the season and play at home again this coming Saturday vs. Stephen F. Austin.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2pm.

The Wyoming Cowgirls have a home game on Sunday vs. Creighton.

Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 1pm.


University Of Wyoming Women’s Volleyball: Wyoming will host Montana State tonight at 6:30 in the quarter-finals of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship Tournament.

If they win they’ll advance to the semi-finals to play the winner of Drake and Wichita State.

Time and location to be announced.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche were victorious at home last night vs. Anaheim 3-2.

The next game is tomorrow at home vs. Winnipeg.


Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks look to extended their 4-game winning streak as they host Bozeman on Friday and Saturday beginning at 7:30pm

The Hawks are now 8-16 on the season and have moved up to 6th place in the Frontier Division, while the IceDogs are 12-12 and sit in 4th place.
