SC RODEO – The 2023 College National Finals Rodeo starts this Sunday at the Ford Wyoming center in Casper.
Sheridan college will have three cowboys who will try to win a championship belt buckle and saddle.
Clancy Glenn and Joseph Priebe will compete in the Saddle Bronc event, while Wyatt Phelps will try to be the college national champ in Bull Riding.
For Phelps, he says he’s been riding bulls since his freshman year in high school at Pinedale.
He’s been to the high school NFR three times, but this will be the first time he’ll be on the college stage.
Phelps adds when it comes to bulls, someone else might know a thing or two about how a bull might move and spin during the 8 second ride, but he doesn’t always rely on that information, because it’s not always right.
All competitors in every event at the CNFR are guaranteed three runs in their event and then the top 12 after next Friday night will be invited back to the championship short-go, which is a week from this Saturday.
Phelps is scheduled to ride Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, and then he’ll have to wait out the rest of the week to see if he makes it to the finals.
