Cooper Schroefel

Mass of Christian Burial for Cooper Schroefel, 23 year old Buffalo resident who passed away suddenly Sunday morning at the Johnson County Health Care Center, will be celebrated Saturday January 8th at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with Father Pete Johnson as Celebrant. A Vigil Service will be held on Friday at 6:00 in the Catholic Church.  Visitation will be held at the Harness Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the Mass. Donations in Cooper’s memory may be made to the Johnson County Family YMCA in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Online condolences may made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com

Cooper Lee Schroefel was born on December 29, 1998 in Gillette, Wyoming to Shon and Jennifer Schroefel.  He moved with his family to Buffalo when he was in first grade and attended Buffalo schools.  He graduated from Buffalo High School with the class of 2017 where he was very active in Basketball and Golf. After high school he continued living in Buffalo until his death.

Cooper enjoyed being outdoors, interacting with the public, working out at the YMCA, playing Scrabble and other word games.  He loved spending time with his family and his dogs, Bruiser, Cosby and Rocky. He is survived by his parents, Shon and Jennifer Schroefel of Buffalo; one brother Trey Schroefel of Buffalo; one sister Sam Christensen and her husband John of Buffalo; his paternal grandmother Margie Schroefel of Casper, Wyoming; one niece and one nephew, Harper and S.J. Christensen also of Buffalo; three uncles Sterling Schroefel of Worland, Wyoming, Scott Schroefel of Casper and Mark Stratton of Loveland, Colorado; four aunts, Sheryl Schroefel of Casper, Carolyn Kaiser of Buffalo, Rebecca Johnson of Pocatello, Idaho and Amanda TerEick of Lone Tree, Colorado.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jack and Anna Stratton and his paternal grandfather Warren Schroefel.
