Bertie Wester

Graveside funeral services for Bertie Wester, 91-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Tuesday at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo will be held Friday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. in Willow Grove Cemetery with Pastor Rene Castillero of the Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo. Donations in Bertie’s memory may be made to the Susie Bowling Hospice in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com  

Bertie Matilda Wester was born on April 28, 1929, in Lander, Wyoming to William and Rita Gustin. She grew up and went to school in Lander and attended Lander High School. After high school, she worked at a pharmacy in Lander for a short time.  She was married on June 15th, 1947 in Lander to Frederick Wester and they made their home in Lander for eleven years.  They were transferred with the Wyoming Highway Department to Buffalo in 1958.  Bertie worked for many years at the New York Store in Buffalo. Fred passed away in February of 1997 and Bertie continued living in Buffalo until her death.

Fred and Bertie were members of the Good Sam’s Club and spent their winters in Arizona.  She was a founding member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.  She was an accomplished Horseshoe player but her passion was spending time with her family. She was a favorite aunt to 27 nieces and nephews. She is survived by one son Daniel Wester and his wife Beth of Casper; one daughter-in-law Kathie Wester of Laramie; one sister Deana Hitchew of Lander; four grandchildren, Paul, Brian, Ben, and Eric Wester and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband one son Larry Wester and four brothers and four sisters.
