James “Jim” E. Marosok, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on November 14, 2024.

Born in Sheridan, Wyoming, he was the son of Andrew “Spider” and Dorothy (Snively) Marosok. He attended Linden Elementary School, Central Middle School, and graduated with the Class of 1954 from Sheridan High School. He enlisted in the Army following graduation and served in Augsburg, Germany with the 11th Airborne. He continued his military career serving in the Army National Guard, retiring after over 30 years of service.

Jim married his soul-mate, life partner, and best friend Dixie Robison in 1958. Together, they raised their family in Billings, MT, later returning to his hometown of Sheridan.

Jim received his Master’s Degree from Eastern Montana College. He was a beloved educator for many years, teaching at Lincoln Jr. High in Billings, Taylor School and Central Middle School in Sheridan. He also was an administrator at Big Horn School for a time. He had special friendships with co-workers and students, many who visited and checked on him in later life.

Jim and Dixie were always very active walking, biking, hiking, cross country skiing, and traveling the world together. They enjoyed many hours spent with friends at the YMCA and Senior Center, as well as their winter retirement community in Arizona.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings during his life-time, including a two-year mission with Dixie in London, England.

Jim’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply. Each one was precious to him.

His guidance, wisdom, strength of character, and love will be greatly missed by all of them.

Jim’s sweetheart Dixie preceded him in death, as did his beloved brother, Andrew “Moose” Marosok. He is survived by his children Michael (Laura) Weber Marosok, David Marosok, Sandra (Ryan) O’Dell, and Cary (Zane) Durham, his sister Dodie Watts, 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
