Harbee Tharaldson

Harbee L. Tharaldson of Story, WY passed away on July 21st, 2024, at his home, at the age of 86 years.
Harbee was born on March 2nd, 1938, on a family farm outside Brooten, MN. The 6th of 11 children, he was an excellent student, winning many academic and athletic honors in his high school years. Furthermore, he became an entrepreneur, running several small businesses serving the community of Farmington, MN, where he and Sandy raised 3 children. He and Sandy moved to Sheridan in 2006 to care for Sandy’s mother, and to Story in 2011.
An avid vocalist, he performed over 300 weddings and funerals, as well as many other public engagements. Many will remember him for his renditions of the National Anthem at the Sheridan Wyo Rodeo, and for his role as a Cantor at St. Peter’s. He was active in many civic and social organizations, including Lions and Eagles clubs, Chambers of Commerce, and Community Choirs. He was also widely known for his kindness and generosity.
He is preceded in death by parents Ole and Alice, brothers Omer, Ernie, and Lon Tharaldson, sisters Marjorie Olson, Jean Gates, Irene Kowitz and Vicki Hegman, and his son Lance.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife, Sandy Tharaldson, children H. Kyle Tharaldson, Kristian and Angela Tharaldson, and Kara and Hal Lovemelt, and grandchildren Zoe, Mya, and Téa Lear-Tharaldson, Auggie Tharaldson, and Phoenix and Kaiya Lovemelt.

Sandy and family, very sorry to hear about Harbee’s passing. He was a very kind man, and we certainly appreciated his kindness to our son David. David worked for Harbee while in high school and always spoke highly of him. May fond memories comfort you. John and Marlene Frank
