Joe was born in Taylor, Nebraska on January 23, 1936, to Wayne and Ferne (Bishop) Meyers. At a young age, his family moved to Ucross, Wyoming. He attended schools in Buffalo, Wyoming. He worked in the oilfields, on missile base sites, and road construction in Colorado. In 1967 the family moved to Gillette, Wyoming where he worked in the oilfields and for Amax Coal Company. In 1979 they moved to Sheridan, Wyoming where he and his wife opened and operated Custom Mufflers & Accessories from August 1979 to December 1998. After retiring they spent the winters in Yuma, Arizona until recently.
Joe enjoyed driving stock cars in the early 70’s and after moving to Sheridan many motorcycle trips took him to many places along with many snowmobile adventures in the Big Horns, Yellowstone, Cooke City, and Saratoga.
