Clark Kenneth Latham

Clark Kenneth Latham, 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in Sheridan, WY at his residence.
Clark K. Latham was born on April 1, 1933, in Gebo Wyoming to Leland (Pink) and Delma Julio Latham. His twin brother Lewis died at birth.
Pink and Delma divorced, and Clark traveled with his mother from Sheridan to San Juan Island, Washington. When he was ready to start school, Clark moved to Ucross WY to live with his aunt and uncle, Rose and John Fowler. He enjoyed being out-of-doors and the freedom of living and working with his uncle. He attended Ucross School and later graduated from Clearmont High School.
In December 1951, Clark married Dixie Mitchell. They made their home at the ranch. Their daughter, Susan was born a year later.
Clark and his family moved to the West Coast, where Clark worked a variety of jobs from California to Washington, until he began working construction, helping to build roads in the Oregon mountains. Son, Mike was born in 1956 in Salem Oregon. When Mike was about 18 months old, the family moved back to Wyoming, living in Clearmont and Ucross. Clark was back to work on the ranch with Uncle John.
In 1961, Clark moved back to Oregon and resumed work in construction. He later married Myrtus Finnerty and helped to raise step-children, Sally and Brian. He and Myrtus later divorced. At one point in time Clark, Mother Delma, and two brothers worked for Beaver State Construction, a company that Pink Latham and his partner owned. Jobs took them to Libby Montana as well as many areas in Washington and Oregon.
Clark’s retirement found him on the road – traveling to all of the contiguous United States.
He liked the song “I’ve Been Everywhere” by Hank Snow. He traveled across the United States on secondary highways stopping at small-town restaurants and bars to visit with the local people. He told many interesting and colorful stories about his travels and the friends he made along the way, often pulling out his many maps to show us just where said stories came from! He described himself as a “rain bird” as he spent his winters in Arizona and Nevada, and summers back in Oregon and Washington. He spent the last five years in Sheridan WY.
All his life, Clark had a great sense of humor and loved to give quirky gifts. He would hand out silver dollars as tips and pay for items with $2.00 bills or silver dollars ‘just because’ there often was no slot for these in a cash drawer.
Clark is survived by his children, Susan Flynn (Pete Carlberg), Sheridan; Mike of Ucross; and Sally Miller, Buffalo. His grandchildren: Anna (Chad) Riegler, Sheridan; Mitch Latham, Billings, Montana; Ivy (Jason) Pazour, Frankfort, South Dakota. His great-grandsons Chase Pazour, Blaine Latham, and Tanner Pazour. Cousin Anna Mae DeCrescentis, Denver, brother Ken (Tami) Latham, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Clark’s parents, John and Rose Fowler, his twin, and two half-brothers preceded him in death, as well as his mother’s and Aunt Rose’s siblings: Ida Rotolo, Tony Julio, Lucille Thompson, and Jean O’Conner, his dad’s siblings, and daughter-in-law Lynne Latham.
No services are planned at this time. A private family gathering will take place in the spring or summer. Online condolences may be made to www.sheridanfuneral.com. Arrangements are under the care of Sheridan Funeral Home.
