Leonard Allan Hurst, 92, of Sheridan passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023.
Leonard was born in Casper, Wyoming on December 8, 1930, to Ronald Hurst and Esther Freeman. He grew up in Rawlins, Wyoming, and graduated from Rawlins High School. He spent 4 years of service in the Navy during the Korean War.
Leonard married Catherine Williams on May 19, 1952, at the First Congregational Church in Rawlins, Wyoming. They were married for 54 years and together they had four children.
Leonard was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He enjoyed singing, golfing, telling jokes, square dancing, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Leonard worked as a butcher for Safeway for a few years. In the early 1960’s he then joined the Sheridan Fire Department and worked for the city for 30 years.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Katie Hurst.
He is survived by his children, Dannon (Tom) Bury, John (Gwen) Hurst, Tim (Leslee) Hurst, and David (Melonie) Hurst. He had 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great Grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheridan Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers, you can send memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or the Sheridan Senior Center.

Leonard: A good friend and a good man !!! So many wonderful memories but especially mornings at the HUB playing golf on the pool tables.
