Annie Neville

Private family graveside funeral services for Annie Neville, a 100-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Saturday, March 11, at the Johnson County Health Care Center will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.  Donations in Annie’s memory may be made to the Susie Bowling Lawrence Hospice at 497 West Lott in Buffalo, Wyoming 82834. Annie Henderson Neville was born on October 17, 1922, in Washington D.C. to William and Agnus Love.  She grew up and went to school in D.C. and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School with the class of 1940.  After high school, she worked for a short time before attending the Washington School for Secretaries.  After Pearl Harbor was attacked she joined the U.S. Marines and served as a recruiter for a while before becoming a materials officer supplying parts for Corsair fighter aircraft.  She was married on December 7, 1945, in Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church in Washing D.C. to Robert Neville and they made their home in Quantico, Virginia pursuing military careers.  After the birth of their first child, Annie retired from the Marine Corps to be a mom.  Robert was career military and they were stationed in Hawaii, Spain, Camp Pendleton, California, Paris Island, South Carolina, and Marine Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. Following retirement, they bought a home in Arlington, Virginia.  Robert passed away in 1985 and in 2001 Annie moved to Saratoga, Wyoming to be near family. In 2010 she moved with her family to Buffalo, Wyoming where she lived until her death.

Annie was an avid and accomplished golfer and golfed until she was 85 years old. She enjoyed hunting arrowheads and going to sporting events to support her grandson Allen Buff. She is survived by one daughter Breen Buff and her husband Butch of Buffalo; one grandson Allen Buff and his wife Megan and one great-grandson Rhett all of Buffalo.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

    Annie was one of my favorite Marines! Hugs and prayers to Breen and family.
