Long Term Water Supply

Water, sewer and landfill capability was the focus of a presentation to the Sheridan City Council and Mayor Rich Bridger this week. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Current functionality and long term capabilities of the City’s landfill, sewer and water system were highlighted during a presentation by City Utilities Director Dan Roberts at the recent Sheridan City Council meeting. Roberts provided some insight on the water system components for Sheridan.
Roberts said while the infrastructure for the City’s utilities has the capacity to support Sheridan for decades, now is the time to begin preparing for the future. Roberts said factoring in recent growth, the capacity in the City’s water supply system is about 38 years.
Roberts said the master plan outlines an effort to procure water from Lake DeSmet.
Roberts said the next steps in acquiring water from Lake DeSmet would be to request a level two study through the Wyoming Water Development Commission that would detail the cost and feasibility of the project. Roberts recommended the City in 2023 begin exploring in greater detail the level two request to the WWDC.
